We read news every day about how our rain forests are being cut down and we're quickly degrading our environment; we also keep hearing about how something needs to be done about it and that we can't just sit back and watch as our world decays away. Well Amazon, along with other companies possibly including Apple, are out to do something about it - that something is to take away our textbooks.

Growing up in the United States, we had it instilled within us that we were receiving the best education in the world and that we were indeed the best and brightest in terms of scholarly activity. Sadly, however, that has drastically changed over the years.

The Atlantic Council hosted a talk today entitled, "Hard Lessons: What Iraq can teach the US and our allies about future stability and reconstruction operations", headlined by Inspector General Stuart Bowen. Inspector Bowen argued that most of the problems in rebuilding Iraq were based on the American inability to create integrated solutions. When we had a military success, we had a diplomatic failure. When we had a diplomatic victory, it would be accompanied by a developmental disaster, and so on and so on.
